Is Surfr free?
The basic app is free and tracks sessions and jumps on your phone. Plus (€3,99 a month or €24,99 a year) adds Garmin recording. PRO (€6,99 a month or €54,99 a year) adds Apple Watch and Wear OS. Both have a 14-day free trial.
Do I need to take my phone on the water with Surfr?
Only in phone mode, where the phone goes in a waterproof pouch inside your wetsuit. Record on a supported Apple Watch, Wear OS or Garmin watch and the phone can stay on the beach.
Does Surfr need extra hardware?
No. Surfr uses the sensors in your phone or watch. SANDIT takes the opposite approach: a dedicated GPS and motion sensor, included in the membership.
Which one tracks surfing?
SANDIT does, with wave count, paddle vs ride time and cutback analysis. Surfr focuses on kitesurfing, wingfoiling and windsurfing.
