Firmware Updates

Updating your sensor firmware

Firmware updates reach your sensor over Bluetooth, from the SANDIT app. You never need a cable or a computer.

How it works

  1. When an update is available, the app shows a prompt.
  2. Put the sensor next to your phone and start the update.
  3. The sensor's light turns purple while it installs.
  4. It restarts on its own and the app confirms the new version.

Before you start

  • Charge the sensor, ideally above half. An update that runs out of power partway is the one situation that genuinely needs our help.
  • Sync your sessions first so nothing is waiting on the device.
  • Stay close and keep the app open for the couple of minutes it takes.

Do not put the sensor on the charger, press the button, or close the app while the light is purple.

If an update is interrupted

Leave the sensor alone for five minutes. It usually recovers and restarts by itself. If the light stays purple well beyond that, or the sensor will not wake afterwards, charge it for an hour and try once more, then mail crew@sandit.club. Do not reset the sensor first, because the recovery path is easier for us with the device in its current state.

Why bother updating

Updates carry accuracy improvements to the sport metrics, battery behaviour and connection reliability. Because the metrics are computed on the sensor itself, a firmware update is often what makes your numbers better.
